Close to 25,000 Left Without Electricity in Queensland and Victoria Following Intense Weather Systems

Approximately 25,000 homes in Queensland's southeast woke up without power on Monday morning after powerful weather events swept through the area, generating powerful gusts hitting 109km/h.

Substantial Ice Stones and Widespread Impact

Residents witnessed giant hailstones measuring up to 7cm in particular locations. Meteorological experts verified that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

State Emergency Services received nearly 600 emergency reports across the area, mostly for property damage but also for fallen timber and flooding.

At the height on the previous day, in excess of twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were lacking electricity.

Weather Forecast

Damp conditions were predicted to continue along much of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tuesday was forecast to be the most rainy day, with ongoing storm activity predicted across different parts of both areas.

Medical Alert

Public health experts cautioned that there was an increased chance of epidemic thunderstorm asthma across the countryside regions, especially given the ongoing climate situation.
